Safe playtime in Heidelberg: Safety tiles for the kindergarten

We are proud to have supplied the safety surfacing for the playground at the Kanzleigasse Kindergarten in Heidelberg last year, making a crucial contribution to a safe and child-friendly play environment.

The kindergarten, where 60 children experience their daily adventures, chose the high-quality REGUPOL safety tiles to provide the necessary protection for young adventurers as they climb, run and play. Especially at a young age, physical activity is an essential component of daily learning and play; what matters is that children can do this in an environment that promotes their creativity and joy, without the risk of injuries being the primary concern.

For this project, REGUPOL delivered a total of 315 m² of REGUPOL playfix FX safety tiles in red. The tiles, tested according to DIN EN 1177, were delivered in two different thicknesses to meet the various requirements of the playground: 110 mm thick tiles (for fall heights up to 3 meters) for areas where higher fall heights are expected, and 75 mm thick tiles (for fall heights up to 2.10 meters) for areas where children play closer to the ground. Especially for active children who love to climb and jump, these safety tiles are essential. They ensure that any falls are cushioned gently, reducing the risk of injury. This way, children can continue to reach great heights and fully immerse themselves in play. Alongside functional safety, the bold red of the tiles adds a visual highlight. Colours play a vital role in child development, helping to stimulate imagination and creativity. The vibrant red fits perfectly with the overall look of the playground, creating a cheerful and inviting atmosphere for play and exploration.
In addition to the safety tiles, 22 REGUPOL playfix sandpit safety surrounds, also in red, were supplied. These edging elements help keep the sand contained within the sandbox, while also creating a seamless transition between different play areas. For many children, the sandbox is a central space where they can let their imagination run wild, building castles, digging tunnels and creating new worlds with friends. The REGUPOL sandpit surrounds provide functional benefits and visually complement the overall playground design.
The installation was completed with our plug-in dowels and PU adhesive, ensuring safe and long-lasting installation of our safety tiles.

Especially in outdoor settings, where play equipment and flooring are regularly exposed to the elements, it is crucial for materials to be durable and easy to maintain. REGUPOL safety tiles and sandpit surrounds have proven weather-resistant in practice and have maintained their quality over time. This provides the kindergarten with not only long-term protection for children during play but also an economically sound investment for the future.

With this project, REGUPOL has once again demonstrated that safety, quality and design can go hand in hand; for the benefit of the children who use the playgrounds and the peace of mind of those responsible for their upkeep.
