Shane first installed REGUPOL products in the areas where the horses are tied up, a choice based on safety considerations. "I wanted some rubber flooring that was quite soft so that if horses fell over… it's a nice thick soft rubber that's durable," Shane explains. Even if a young horse panicked or lost its footing, the rubber flooring would cushion the fall, averting potential injuries. 
The durability of REGUPOL products became evident as Shane expanded their use across his facility. "I've now got it in all my wash bay areas where we wash the horses off," he adds. 
These areas benefit from the soft, thick rubber flooring, which offers superior traction and cushioning. "They’re 40, 50 mil thick, so [they provide] a lot of cushioning if the horses do fall over or slip so that they're not gonna get hurt," Shane explains. 
For high-traffic areas such as horse walking machines, Shane opted for a harder, more wearable REGUPOL product that delivers maximum durability without compromising on safety. 
"The product for the horse walker gets a lot of traffic… it needs to be durable… cope with the traffic without falling apart too quickly," Shane explains. He also points out that the rubber flooring in these areas "needs to have good traction. It's outside, so it can get different weather conditions." 
 

REGUPOL flooring also enhances the welfare of the horses by being gentler on their feet and legs compared to concrete. Shane notes, "On concrete, they can slip. It's also noisy… so to have the rubber, it’s not only quieter, but… it's a lot softer on the horse's feet and legs, and they seem to enjoy the rubber." 
Maintenance is another important factor in Shane’s busy schedule, and REGUPOL products have proven to be low maintenance. "Haven't had to do too much maintenance. You know, they're pretty easy to look after. We sweep or blow the areas every day to make sure that they stay clean," Shane says. 
REGUPOL’s longevity and durability further enhance their appeal. "Nothing lasts forever, but the product seems to last very well from what I've been using for 15 plus years," Shane says, emphasising how the floors have performed in a demanding environment.

"I think they're really fit for the purpose that I have of making sure that if a horse does something silly and falls over, they're gonna be in as good hands as possible," he emphasises.
