The Ohio State University
Schumaker Complex
The Ohio State University Schumaker Complex – Columbus, Ohio
The Ohio State University undertook a major renovation of the Schumaker Complex, spanning over 15,000 square feet. The project, completed in 2023, focused on enhancing the functionality and performance of the athletic training spaces. The renovation included the installation of 25 platforms equipped with REGUPOL crash drop zones to accommodate Olympic weightlifting and other high-impact activities. These drop zones, constructed using REGUPOL crash, a highly durable and dense rubber material, effectively mitigate noise and reverberation, prioritizing athlete safety. The flooring throughout the facility was upgraded to REGUPOL aktivpro roll, a high-performance rubber flooring system designed for heavy use.
The choice of Thunder Gray as the primary color for the flooring, complemented by custom solid red and black accents, creates a visually appealing and cohesive aesthetic. The incorporation of high-quality materials, advanced design elements, and expert installation transformed the Schumaker Complex into a cutting-edge training environment for Ohio State athletes.
